What Causes Low Pulse Rate And Drowsiness While On Tizanidine?
I am taking tizanidine - 4mg and tramadol - 25mg....both twice a day. Symptoms of low pulse, sleepiness. From reading, this is a bad mix. Thus I want to stop taking the tizanidine but I understand that stopping completely and immediately is not recommended. Can I cut tizanidine in half or can I go to 2mg once a day at night ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, Tizanidine can cause drowsiness. Stopping Tizanidine is not a big issue, you didn't mention for what purposes you are using it. What I understand that there is no problem in stopping it immediately if your disease itself is controlled without it.
So, I would advise that you can reduce the dose, better to take it in 2 mg two times because it won't work the whole day if taken once a day. If your primary problem for which you are taking the drug does not worsen a lot and you can stop it completely any time. However, this must be done with consultation of your primary doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
