Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother had a very low sodium level, and was hospitalized. She had taken a diaretic for 5 days. She was put on .2 clonidine 3X day. She has weak legs in the morning and then as the day goes on they get better. At times her vision is blurry. This has been about 10 days she has been taking this medication. Is this common?
Low sodium levels is due to use of diuretics. In my opinion you should report it to the treating doctor. Your mother may need medical attention to increase the sodium levels by intravenous fluids. If diuretics are used & Hyponatremia (low sodium) occurs the dose should either be reduced or stopped. Get Hyponatremia for it may complicate to kidney disorders, diarrhea, cirrhosis, hypothyroidism or heart failure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
