What Causes Low Testosterone And High Prolactin Levels?

Hi I have low testestorene 272ngdl ,normal lh and fsh ,prolactin little high ,cortisol borderline low.i am suffering from zero libido but still I have average erections.what should I do ? What is the reason behind my problem.is prolactin lowering my testestorene or cortisol is the culprit or is it adrenal problem.i don t smoke drink and don t have diabetes or sleep apnea.i used my hands and manually relaesed semen but I dint feel any pleasure ,just a hot feeling only.please answer

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

High prolactin levels cause loss of libido due to low testosterone production, resulting in headache, erectile dysfunction or impotence. You should visit an Endocrinologist & get physically examined, get few investigations done to rule out Hypogonadism or Hyperprolactinemia due to pituitary adenoma. Treatment is by medications & if required surgery.High prolactin levels can be treated with Bromocriptine or Cabergoline. Stay away from addictions. Do not take medicines like Opiates, amphetamines, amitriptyline, phenothiazines, etc., for they cause hyperprolactinemia. Other causes may be herpes zoster, cirrhosis, pituitary adenomas, etc. Get evaluated & treated before problems complicate. Take care.
