What Causes Low Thyroid Activity And Low Body Temperature?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I have a 4 mo/old granddaughter in Romania. Dad called said that she had blood work yesterday and her blood is thick, she has low thyroid activity and her temperature drops to 96.1 rectally at night. Is there anything I can suggest to my son as to cause or what he should do. They are missionaries. She had been sick 2 weeks ago and was put on low dose antibiotics.

Most common reason for acquired hypothyroidism is either autoimmune destruction to thyroid gland or post viral damage. You need to give synthetic thyroid supplement T4.
