What Causes Low Vitamin B12 Level While Taking Synthroid?

I have been taking synthroid for several years and was just told to take b12 because my b12 was low (blood test because I had some concern over fuzzy thinking). Just checking to see if interactions between the two, If I should take them together or at separate times of the day.

Hi & Welcome to HCM.

I appreciate your concern for the Low Vitamin B12 level while taking Synthroid.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is commonly seen in patients suffering from Hypothyroidism however oral Vitamin B12 has not been shown to interact with Levothyroxine (synthroid) as there is no documented interaction between the two medications.

You are advised to take Synthroid on an empty stomach.
Take it with a full glass of water at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before eating breakfast & the oral Vitamin B12 can be taken at least 4 hours after taking Synthroid.

Hope to have answered your query.

A feed back is appreciated.
