What Causes Low Voice And Constant Throat Clearing While On Medication For Pneumonia?

Hello doctor my dad recently on Thursday got out of the hospital for pnumonia he had a pretty bad one but they sent him home to finsh the antibiotics and steroids . Since he s gotten out he has a very low tone voice let trying to clear throat ? Apart from this is also has copd which he takes his meds for . Is this normal with the voice ?
