What Causes Low White Blood And Platelet Counts With Black Stools While On Ibrance?
My sister has breast cancer that has gone to the bone and a liason on her liver, she has done lots of chemo and has been on Ibranz for about 6 weeks now. Her white blood count and platelet count is low and her stools were black this morning. She is getting lab work done as I write this, any advice?
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
Platelets can go low with chemo , usually black stools can be there in such patients who have gone through chemo , in cases when they get stomach errosion ir ulcers, platelets are low so there is a chance that a small ulcer can be bleeding slowly , in this scenario if stools are black sticky and tarry and stay like that for 3-4 days, then I would suggest you to contact her doctor he might get a look at the matter and can adjust medication usually we adjust or add stomach protective medications in such cases.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you. Regards.
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
