Hi,
Dyspareunia means
pain during intercourse, but sometimes can be seen just after intercourse also. The possible causes of pain according to your history are:
- Post coital tear may be on posterior vaginal wall.
-
Irritable bowel syndrome especially due to deep penetration
- Pelvic infections
- Structural causes like
retroverted uterus, fibroids etc.
If the pain subsides completely and doesn't recur, may not need active treatment. Abstinence for few days and local lubricant gel during intercourse may help.
If pain continues or recurs in future you have to get evaluated. In this case, please consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for
ultrasound, pap smear. With this workup the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment ca be taken accordingly.
Small superficial tears heal by themselves gradually. Infections need local and systemic antibiotics. Avoiding high gas foods like coffee, raw fruits, cabbage etc, taking plenty of fluids, if needed laxatives can help in irritable bowel syndrome. Structural causes may need surgical management sometimes.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
