What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Backache During Pregnancy?
Hi I have been having pain in pregnancy since week 8 and the doctor put me on phenobarbital twice a day and bascopan which makes me sleepy most of the time and am wondering if it s going to affect my baby in any way am now 26 wks.what could be causing the pains in lower abdomen and backache when out of the drugs?
As per my clinical experience, the phenobarbital is an anti-convulsant drug and never recommended for abdomen pain and backache in any pregnant woman. The possible cause of pain may be: - Stretching of uterine portions from developing fetus - Intestine colic from irregular bowel habits - Postural related - Weight lifting maneuvers - Urinary retention - Or others.
It is best recommended to take an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis in this regard for further guidelines of management. It is recommended also to discuss the use of phenobarbital in your case. Till that Buscopan can be used safely without any problems.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
