What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Elevated WBC?

I have lower abdominal pain and pressure and mucous and small pieces of stool. Now running fever.. Do you think it could be diviticulitis. Went to md this morning and my white count was slightly elevated but no fever then. He told me to eat bland foods.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a gastrointestinal infection. The high level of white blood cells is related to a bacterial infection so I suggest to do a stool test for further evaluation. Meanwhile I suggest to take daily probiotics. I also recommends to eat a light diet and drink liquids. If the diagnosis is confirmed antibiotics may be needed to treat the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
