What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Soreness And Painful Urination?

My lower abdomen-region hurts in a sore way, not a sharp or piercing way, when i urinate. Could this be serious? Could it be a result of weak ab muscles? I did some intense ab exercise a few days ago and I m usually very sedentary. I d much rather it be that than some kind of infection I can t afford to fix.

Hi there, your abdominal pain and soreness could certainly be a result of over-exercise. I would like to know a little bit more information, however- are you having absolutely no soreness unless you are urinating? If you only have pain with urination, (and not at rest) associated with having to urinate more often than usual, or if you have any fevers or chills, I would be more concerned that you could have a urinary tract infection. If you have an infection, I would urge you to seek medical attention, as it often does not improve without an antibiotic, which you would have to have a doctor prescribe.

If your abdomen has been sore all the time ever since you exercised several days ago, and gets somewhat worse when you urinate or defecate (from bearing down and clenching your abdominal muscles), it is likely just muscle strain and it will get better with time. You could try over the counter ibuprofen for relief. I hope this answer was helpful to you! Get well.
