What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Vaginal Bleeding?
I have been having lower abdominal pain for awhile and today had bleeding and discharge. I have had a partial hysterectomy over 10 yrs ago. I have a family history of ovarian cancer, my grandmother passed away from it as well as my mother. My sister had the Barca test and she said she has the gene and is 97% positive. Not sure what that means. Should I be concerned at this point?
BRCA1 and BRCA2 are called breast cancer genes. They are strongly associated with the development of breast and ovarian cancer. It has affected many women in your family. It sounds like you had a hysterectomy but likely did not have removal of your ovaries.
You need to get evaluated. It would include an ultrasound and a discussion with your doctor about getting tested for these genes. The ability to intervene before you get one of these cancers can be life-saving. Please make an effort to get in immediately.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
