What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain?

I am female, age 71. Within the last few hours, I have developed an achy pain in my right extreme lower abdomen. I do not notice it much if I am sitting or an still, but if I bend over, move about, I feel it more. I do have IBS. Could this be the problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Right lower abdomen pain is commonly associated with appendicitis. As you mentioned you have history of IBS, the possibility of it to be the reason can not be denied. I suggest you get an USG abdomen done and visit your doctor with the results. Let the doctor do a physical examination and depending on the current and past medical history, he will guide you further with appropriate management. He might ask you to get some other diagnostic tests done if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
