What Causes Lower Back Pain Along With Blood In Urine?

Hi Dr. After urinating today I noticed a few drops of what looked like blood coming out of my penis. It has since cleared up but I ve also developed a sharp pain under my ribs on my lower back. I am planning on seeing a doctor tomorrow afternoon after work but am concerned I should seek medical help sooner. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The kidney stones can be a cause for the blood in urine. It's also a cause for the UTI, as the stone can be a focus of infection. So unless the stones are cleared or expelled, this may recur any time.

He should be drinking about 12-15 glasses fluids daily.

He should also be taking stone dissolution drugs or undergo lithotripsy. If you've any doubts, send a direct question to me.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
