What Causes Lower Back Pain And Breathlessness After Waking Up From Sleep?

Hi, I experience lower back pain but it only happens after I wake up from a sleeping position. Like when I lie down on my side while watching TV. It doesn t hurt while lying down. It hurts after I get up. It continues for about 5 minutes after standing up. I have difficulty in breathing too during this period.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi when you lie down on your sides the lung on that side will not expand completely and so when you get up it takes a while for you to catch your breath and your back muscles contract to hold you in a side position. When you lie in the same position for a long period of time there is considerable strain on a particular group of muscles. You do not require any treatment for this and this can happen to anybody. Try changing your position every once in a while. Change sides and lie on your back. Also when you get up from a sleeping position sit up for a while before you get up to walk. I hope this helps. Take care :)
