Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lower Back Pain And Clear Vaginal Discharge Post Intake Of Plan B?
My girlfriend has taken a Plan B pill on Monday, she says that she feels lower back pain and has a clear, vaginal discharge and that there is a scent that it s producing that she claims isn t a normal thing. Is this normal to be experiencing these symptoms at all? If it is, should they be lasting for days?
Welcome to HCM. I am sorry to hear about her condition. I will try to help out as much as I can. Low back pain and malodorous vaginal discharge usually point towards an underlying vaginal infection. She needs to visit a physician to get examined. If it is a vaginal infection, the physician will recommend her antibiotics. Sometimes the antibiotic should be taken by both the partners to prevent a recurrence of the infection. Not experiencing any symptoms by the other partner is not a reason for not taking the antibiotic as this infection could be silent (asymptomatic) in men. You should ask the doctor whether you also need the antibiotic prescription. I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact if you have any further questions.
sincerely, Dr. Waqas Hayat.
