What Causes Lower Back Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Legs?

I have a great tingling in left leg down to toes along with extreme pain which has developed into feeling like the back of my thigh , knee and calf is in severe pain. Also a slight tingling in right leg and foot. Lower back also in severe pain. MRI shows that I do have a problem with lower back but this pain in my leg is constant and new since MRI. I am to see a Neurosurgeon in a Month and that is as soon as possible. I self diagnosed on several on line sites which said it could be MS ???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Get your lower back pain treated, it could be due to compression of the nerve roots, damage to the intervertebral disc, spinal joint dysfunction, etc. Pain in the leg may be due to Sciatica. Tingling is a symptom of Perpheral Neuropathy or PAD, Peripheral arterial disease. If diabetic, control your blood glucose to prevent worsening of problems. Get all blood, nerve conduction tests, nerve biopsy & imaging tests done under a Neurologist.

You will be treated according to the pathology detected. In the meantime, stay away from addictions if any. Take Neurobion forte, once daily for 20 days, to boost your immune & nervous system. Take food rich in Vitamin B12, E & minerals. It looks more like developing peripheral neuropathy but if neglected it may complicate to early symptoms of FM or MS.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
