Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a lower back rhizotomy 9 weeks ago and the pain is worse than before the procedure. This is all day every day except when I m sitting at which time the pain is either gone or minimal. I had second rhizotomy on the other side 4 weeks ago. The pain on the second side is only a few degrees better than before the procedure. I can not get in to see my doctor until December. However, I do have an appointment with his PA in another month. What course of treatment do you think I should look into? I am 63 and did factory work for many years. I have many bulging discs and 2 herniated disks.
Based on the history you have shared, you will need anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen and nerve pain suppressants like gabapentin. Maybe the inflammatory response after surgery has caused more pain temporarily. It may relieve gradually.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
