What Causes Lower Back Pain Radiating Down The Leg And Ankle?
Hi I ve had lower back / hip pain with an elastic band feeling going down my right leg, with fizzing ankle feeling! This happened 18 months ago and identified L5/S1 are . I was put on Lyrica/ Pregabalin can t remember the milligrams. The symptoms disappeared in 3 months and I was pain free! Totally amazed and happy! The pain came back this year on my left side, so I was prescribed 50 mg Pregabalin a day! No relief whatsoever, so I talked to a pharmacist who said I should transfer to Lyrica! So I ve been increased to 150 mg in the morning and 300mg at night! I ve had an 80% improvement but stuck now with no more improvement! I m now 6 months in with this and wonder if I should change to another drug ! I m still in pain and this is affecting my daily life! Any advice please? Debbie
Dear patient, in addition to lyrica/ pregabalin you should do muscle stabilizing therapy such as physical therapy. Lyrica may be comined with a variety of other pain medications such as ibuprofene, codeine, Tramadol. Best regards
