What Causes Lower Back Pain Upon Exertion And Muscle Weakness In Legs?
I have some low back pain when i do yard work ect. also some muscle weakness in back of my legs . a short walk, less than a half mile, and my legs are tired. i was walking 2-3 miles with no problems until 4-5 months ago. my dr. wants me to have an epidural steroid injection . he says it should help more than my back problems i am 78 years old.
Cause of lower back pain on exertion is commonly due to muscle strain, nerve compression or stress on tendons or ligaments. Medical conditions that may cause discomfort, pain on the back and leg are caused by inflamed spinal nerves due to spinal stenosis or disc herniation.
Sciatica or developing peripheral neuropathy may cause discomfort and weakness. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all blood work outs done, get all imaging and nerve conduction tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and your clinical condition. In the meantime take NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when needed for relieve from pain. Take vitamin B6, B12, vitamin E rich food or supplements.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
