Hi doctor . Have been having lower right back pain for skittle over a month . Worsens when laying on back or on side, hurts to bend And started having night sweats and hot flashes throughout day. Had X-ray done nothing bone wise to n concerned about they said however muscle relaxers n pain meds don t seem to help. Should I get an mri done and any suggestions as to what it could be??
Noted the history about having right lower back pain for over a month, pain medicines and muscle relaxers are not helping, wants to know whether to go for MRI. Since you have localized pain in the right lower back that increases on laying on back or on side indicates a local problem in the form of fibromyalgia or inter-vertebral arthritis or some other disease. MRI surely helps to know the cause in most of the cases. If the MRI is normal and yet the pain is present means there may be muscle spasm with fibromyalgia. A clinical examination by an ORthopedic Surgeon along with MRI of the affected area can pinpoint the cause and hence there is a chance of a specific treatment as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
