What Causes Lower Back Pain While Treating Celiac Disease?
I have been diagnosed with Celiac. I have been tested many times since 2000. In 2014 my IgA s were low and gastroenterologist retested differently for celiac. I do have Celiac but not sever. Even with medication I still suffer with lower right back pain. (Which was the final straw to finding why I was so sick.) Still the less I eat the less pain and especially on liquids. Could another organ be malfunctioning.
Renal function tests, Ultrasound abdomen, and KUB is also recommended to rule out other association of coeliac disease. Thyroid profile, electrolytes and sugar levels may also be needed to rule out any endocrine association to coeliac.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician

What Causes Lower Back Pain While Treating Celiac Disease?
Hi, Based on the history you have shared, the back pain needs to be evaluated whether it s arising from spine or seems visceral. Coeliac disease can also cause malabsorption syndrome which leads to decreased absoryof essential vitamins thus leading to bone resorption or osteoporosis. Supplements for calcium, D3, B12, folic acid may be helpful.
