Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pain in my lower back and in the buttock area and hips. It is eased when I m sitting down but when I m standing or walking for a period of time, it s worse. It seems like it s bone related. This has been going on for about two weeks.
The pain you are explaining is very likely due to sciatica. Sciatica causes pain in the lower back that can radiate in the hip area and buttock. It is unlikely to be related to a bone problem so you do not need to worry about it at the moment.
I would advise you to take Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours after food, avoid activities that may worsen the symptoms and also if you can access a physiotherapist to give you some exercises to release muscle spasms and strengthen the muscles around the spine, it would be very helpful.
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know if I may assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
