What Causes Lower Back Pain?
My husband is 52. He has had diabetes since the age of 12. In April, 2010 he had a stroke leaving him with right side paraparesis. He started dialysis in May, 2010. He has a lot of pain in his lower back and woke up last night with chest hurting and the night before with stomach and lower back hurting. What do we need to look for?

1.There are few reasons for back pain in this case, due to the underlying paraphrases if the patient is less mobile.
2.Underling Diabetes - If it is uncontrolled.
3.Age related degenerative changes do may cause the back pain.
4.I would recommend a MRI spine to find out the status of the disc and cord involvement, at the same time a plain radiogram ( X-ray) spine for bony changes.
