What Causes Lower Back Pain?

Every now and then a wake up with excruciating pain in my lower back. It feels like a horrible burning and like i really need to poop but cant and when i do it is not solid. I can't really afford to go to the doctor or hospital so any information would be very helpful. It tends to happen to me when I eat spicy food or consume too much dairy products. Thank you for your time.
