What Causes Lower Back Spasms Along With Severe Pain?
I am suffering with lower back spasms on my lower right hand side around my hip thigh & right buttock.It sometimes feels like my back locks when I stand up & is very painful.I have not had any trauma to my back nor have I lifted anything heavy.I have tried over the counter gels & pain relief but nothing seems to work.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have lower back spasms along with severe pain. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like peripheral nerve compression , diabetic nerve damage , multiple sclerosis , compressed fracture or muscle spasm . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , nerve conduction velocity tests , electromyography or CT scan and rule out conditions like cervical spondylosis . Doctor may also take history and recommend physical therapy and stretching exercises . Doctor may also prescribe vitamin supplement for quick recovery , methylcobalamin along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of compressed fracture , For now apply warm compresses to back , avoid lifting heavy object and take proper rest .

I would suggest you to take proper rest , apply warm compresses after applying anti inflammatory and analgesic gel , which will help alot and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon if condition doesn't get well . Doctor may order X-ray or CT scan along with physical examination to confirm the diagnosis .
