What Causes Lower Legs Pain Post A Knee Replacement Surgery?

I often (about 50% of the time) get quite severe pain in my lower legs at night when I lay down (or if I put my legs up during the day) for about the last 6 months. Have a knee replacement in left leg (about 15 - 20 years ago) and recently (Dec., 17) had meniscus surgery on right knee after sudden severe knee pain had developed. I am 76 but in good health basically.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your Doctor and do few investigations like [Ultrasound and D-dimer]

2)Discuss with your Doctor about prescription [Blood thinners] and [Clot Busters].

3)Use [Compression stockings] regularly.

Do modify lifestyle like this -

1)Try to avoid sitting still. If you've had surgery or have been on bed rest for other reasons, try to get moving as soon as possible. If you're sitting for a while, try not to cross your legs because this can limit blood flow. If you're traveling a long distance by car, stop every hour or so and walk around. If you're on a plane, try to stand or walk occasionally. If you can't do that, at least try to exercise your lower legs. Try raising and lowering your heels while keeping your toes on the floor, then raising your toes while your heels are on the floor.

2)Try to lose weight and quit smoking.

3)Do regular exercise regularly.

Hope that helps
