What Causes Lower Pelvic Pain During 15 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

I'm 15 weeks today and I'm feeling a little pressure in my lower pelvic area. I'm not too concerned about it because I know some babies sit low and this is my second full term pregnancy. But it feels like the baby is long enough to reach both sides of my pelvis. Is this weird or normal?? I also want to know is it safe for the baby to be sitting that low and for how long?

Your pelvic pain may be due to the accommodation of the growing uterus. It is caused by the expanding uterus which pushes the muscles and organs to make room for the baby. The combination of hormones that you produce during pregnancy, as well as the way your body moves make the area around the symphysis pubis (the symphysis pubis is a stiff joint that connects the two halves of your pelvis) becomes tender. This pelvic pain is not weird, many women experience this kind of pain during their pregnancy. An ultrasound will indicate the position of your baby. I suggest you to ask your doctor or midwife about your pelvic pain and whether you should consult or not a women's health physiotherapist. Your physiotherapist will test the stability, movement and pain in your pelvic joints and muscles. Enjoy your pregnancy and take care of yourself and your baby!
