Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Abdominal pain or cramps experienced during menstruation is called 'dysmenorrhea'.
Experiencing some
pain during periods is normal, but if the amount of pain more, then it needs to be attended. Increased activity of the hormone
prostaglandin, which is produced in the uterus, and causes changes in the blood vessels of
uterine cavity and endometrium, is thought to play a role in this condition.
To overcome this, you need to take Tablet.
Mefenamic acid along with Dicyclomine, which is analgesic-antispasmodic.
Apart from medications, you can also do some home care as follows:
1. Apply a heating pad to your lower belly area, below your belly button.
2. Do light circular massage with your fingertips around your lower belly area.
3. Drink warm beverages and have light and frequent meals.
4. Keep your legs raised while lying down, or lie on your side with your knees bent.
5. Take warm showers or baths.
6. Take vitamin B6, calcium and magnesium supplements, especially if your pain is from Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS).
7. Lose weight if you are overweight and exercise regularly.
Hope the information provided is useful.
Wish you good health.
