What Causes Lump Around The Area Of Tetanus Vaccination?

I received a Tetanus-PD Vaccine on Sat. and still have a red spot alittle bigger than the size of a half dollar with a lump in the middle about the size of a dime. It does not hurt as much when I move it but it is still very sore to lay on it or to touch, it is alittle warm. How much longer should this last? I am a 49 year old female, 5 4 185. Have tachacardia and hypothyroid and otherwise in good health.

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM. Pain at the site of injection, lump, swelling, redness, fever are common after this vaccine. TheAdverse effects may also rarely include GI disturbance including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, hypersensitivity or allergic reaction etc. However, the milder adverse effects like what I mentioned earlier do not need any intervention except for taking paracetamol tablets. If the pain persists for more than a month or the severity of the symptoms increaes or in case of wasting of local muscle. So, please don't worry and have paracetamol 500 mg SOS. For any further query, please write back to us. Regards
