What Causes Lump Below Knee,bruising And Itching In Left Leg?

I am a 65-year-old man in good physical condition, with low cholestorol, blood pressure, and pulse (under 55 BPM). However, I have an egg-shaped lump on my left leg, just below the knee. I also have bruising on my left ankle. Finally, my left leg itches. These conditions have been in effect for 6 days. I can walk and even play volleyball, ride a bicycle, and mow the lawn.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have lump below knee,bruising and itching in left leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection , bakers cyst, sebaceous cyst , varicose vein , ganglion , lymphadenopathy or knee injury.

Itching and bruising can also can also occur due to contact dermatitis or allergic reaction. I would suggest you to Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at least for 5 days along with anti inflammatory .

Doctor may also recommend surgical removal of cyst. For now apply warm compresses , knee your leg elevated while sleeping and take ibuprofen or amphetamine for pain .

Doctor may also refer you to dermatologist or allergy specialist for skin problem .
