What Causes Lump In The Forearm When Diagnosed With Crohn S Disease?

Yes. My daughter has Crohn s and was hospitalized for five days last week. During that time she had an IV. When it was removed she had two lumps near the site. They have disappeared and now there s a lump further up on her arm. She is concerned that it is a blood clot and it is moving. Should she be concerned and should she be seen by her doctor?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Lump near the intravenous injection site could be due to hematoma formation. I suggest you to consult your treating doctor for clinical assessment. Hematomas usually settle down within few days. Crohn's disease is not known to be associated with lump formation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
