What Causes Lump In Tongue Along With Sore Throat?

I have developed a lump in my tongue. Been there only about 3 days but today it is more sensitive. It is round and about the size of a pea. In the past I have had a small area of my tongue removed. Small and on the side. My regular doctor removed it. I don t have any other symptoms except sometimes it feels as though I have a sore throat. Not all the time. Weird. Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a lump over the tongue that is present since 3 days and is of the size of a pea and having sore throat along with it, seems to be probably due to formation of a pyogenic granuloma secondary to throat infection while it can also be an erupting ulcer.
I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert or an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture that will help in confirmation of the cause and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now start doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
Avoid hard, spicy foods..
Drink plenty of water..
A script of antibiotics and painkillers will be however advised once the culture report confirms the diagnosis..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
