What Causes Lump In Tongue With History Of Tongue Piercing?
Hi I have had my tongue pierced for four years now and 4 days ago my tongue felt bruised so took it out and I have got a lump in my tongue very sore and my glands in my throat are sore too what could this be the lump has got bigger and bigger over past couple days
Hello and welcome to HCM, Lump on the tongue at the site of tongue piercing is probably due to induration caused at the site of piercing. Bruising suggests trauma and bleeding at the site of tongue piercing. Soreness in the throat is due to infection and inflammation in the throat mucosa. Removal of tongue ring will allow the tongue soft tissues to heal up. Saline gargles will give soothing effect to the throat mucosa. A course of antibiotic is required to clear the infection in the throat. However, a clinical assessment by your primary healthcare provider will be helpful.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
