General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A lump near the umbilicus is commonly caused by hernia. It is indicative of umbilical hernia if the muscle around the navel does not close completely or it may be abdominal or incisional hernia if there is a weak point in the abdominal muscle or tumor.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP. Get X-ray, CT, USG and blood tests done to detect the type of hernia you have, leaving it untreated by cause complications later on. If tumor is diagnosed you will also need to get a biopsy done. Treatment is commonly surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
