Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump on the inside of my lower lip. It seems to be under the skin and there is no pain associated with it. It is not discolored but if you press on it or pull down on the skin around it, it turns a little bit white. Does this sound like cancer or a benign lump. Would could it be.
As per your complaina small painless lump on the inner side of lower lip which blanched or becomes white on aplying pressure is most probably caused to to damage to the minor salivary glands or their ducts present on inner side of lip lower lip leading to spillage of mucus into the adjacent soft tissues leading to formation of a small lump known as MUCOCELE..
It is a harmless and painless lump and many a times small mucoceles resolve themselves without any treatment..
Doing concentrated salt water gargles can be helpful in regressing the mucocele..
In case of small mucoceles that does not resolve by themselves a non surgical Laser ablation can be done..
In case of large mucocele surgical removal is needed..
Hope this information helps..
