What Causes Lump On Labia During Pregnancy?

Hi I have been to my gp about a lump on my labia I am 39 weeks pregnant. my gp told me that its a Bartholin cyst and asked me if it painful, I said that it is slightly painful when pressure is put on it but other than that its bearable, she then told me to just take warm baths and that due to it not being very painful they will not give me antibiotics as they don t like to when pregnant. I just want to know how long will it take to go using bath method and also what if I go into labour and its still there? Will it harm my baby?

Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the Bartholin cyst is a chronic fluid collection involving peri vaginal area with glands opening at 4 and 8 o`clock position.

* It`s appearance has nothing to do with pregnancy.

* Sitz bath are for primary soothing action and is not curative.

* It is not going to harm baby or pregnancy related other issues, unless very severe or infected with abscess formation.

Once your delivery is over, consult and expert surgeon for further management with surgery.
