Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have developed a bump on the head of my penis. It s a little smaller than the diameter of a pea, slightly raised from the skin, red in color, painless for the most part (although occasionally irritated by rubbing against pants). I think It s possible that I have contracted HPV at some point in time, but I only have the single bump and it has a smooth texture (not cauliflower). I thought perhaps it was a pimple except squeezing it or trying to pop it is completely unsuccessful. I have had it for about a week now and it hasn t seemed to change at all. What could this bump be? (FYI, I m a sexually active 21 year old male)
You are suffering from a lump on the head of your penis. You have contracted HPV infection at some point in life. You are sexually active and so are suggested to get STD / HPV tests done, to detect STI's like genital warts(HPV), it is either surgically removed by cryotherapy, electrocautery, laser therapy. It can be treated with topical creams like Imiquimod (Aldara, Zyclara) or oral antibiotics/antivirals.
If genital herpes is detected it will be treated with antivirals, syphilis is commonly treated with antibiotics like penicillin. Get clinically examined by a Urologist, get treated at the earliest. In the meantime, avoid sex or any sexual activity for a couple of days while you are getting treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
