What Causes Lump On The Knee Post Partial Knee Replacement Surgery?

I had a partial knee replacement on my left knee about 3 years ago. I just noticed a large (half size golfball) hard lump on the outside of my knee. It was not there earlier today. It is not tender to the touch, is not affecting my walk and is not hurting. Any ideas?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that this lump may be caused by a liquid collection, a hematoma or a displacement of the prothesis.

The fact that it doesn't hurt, means that there is no inflammation in this region.

I recommend you to consult as soon as possible with the orthopedist and perform an xray of the joint and routine blood tests for inflammation.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
