Hi, I ve had this lump of mucus on my eyeball for about a week. It doesn t hurt, it only feels like there s something in my eye. At first, it was squishy, but now it feels like it s hardened. I ve tried putting on a hot compress, and cleaning out my contacts/replacing them daily. Nothing seems to be working. Could you please tell me what this is?

What Causes Lumps Of Mucus On The Eyeball?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic If it is directly on the conjunctiva of the eye itself, it is possible that it may be a pterygium. This is a growth that can occur in the eye, mainly related to exposure to the sun. It is benign (not cancerous). If it is in the region of the eyelashes then it could be a stye or hordelum. The only definitive way to determine exactly what it is would be to see your doctor for assessment. I hope this helps
