What Causes Lumps On Tonsils With White Spots?

Hi, i went to my doctor with lumps on my tonsils. he assured me there was no real problem and suggested they were probably papillomas, however never really explained a possible cause or treatment. i first noticed the problem as a white spot on my tonsil the day after performing oral sex on a man-however there were no sexual fluids involved. i thought this would be rather quick for the problem to appear if that was, in fact, the cause. could you tell me what may have caused this and a possible treatment, thanks

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have lumps on tonsils with white spots . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like tonsillitis , viral pharyngitis , mononucleosis , cancer (rare chance )or tonsil stones ( tonsilloliths ) . It seems to me that in your case the symptoms are due to either tonsilloliths or tonsillitis . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles thrice a day , avoid acidic and cold food or beverage and suck on sugar free lemon candy . Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically or order CT scan , throat swab test and viral culture test to rule out cancer like condition . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial ( amoxicillin ) or anti viral ( acyclovir ) depending upon the diagnosis along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend tonsillectomy , coblation cryptolysis or laser tonsil cryptolysis .
