Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A few years ago there was some discussion on the web about a condition that had - as symptoms - lumps under the skin, intense itching that sometimes developed a coarse hair growing from the lump. Some people reported that if the hair was pulled out it carried a root structure similar to that of some common garden weeds. I saw photos which purported to be those uprooted hairs. Medical sources generally discounted all this information but after being bombarded with repeated claims, finally decided to do some research. The ball was tossed to Kaiser Permanente to do the research. I haven t heard much about it since but now I have some lumps under my skin that itch intensely. It s in a place I cannot see but my wife assures me that no hairs are growing there.
