What Causes Mass In Left Lung, Left-sided Pain And Low Body Temperature?
My husband is 85 years old. He s had a series of kidney problems but that is supposedly resolved. Last Friday he had a cat scan for pain in his left side. It showed a mass in his lower left lung. They believe it is pneumonia. His doctor put him on a large dose antibiotic. Today he s slept most of the day and his temp. is 95.5. The doctor has not returned my call.
the mass in the lung as seen in the cat scan can most likely be pneumonia. So putting him on antibiotics is the correct thing to do. A one time temperature is not representative, you will have to observe how temperature will develop over the next couple days. If the antibiotic works he should feel better within 2 days and should become less sleepy. If not, you need to take him to the md again to reevaluate if the antibiotic is working or needs to be switched. In some cases with heavy pneumonia antibiotics need to be applied over the veins as iv infusions. Alarming signs would be increasing sleepyness, elevated heart rate, low blood pressure, if that occurs please take him to an ER immediately or call 911. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
