What Causes Menstrual Bleeding With Large Clots Post Mirena Coil Placement?
Hi, Three weeks ago I had the merina coil fitted, ive had a lot of pain which I understand is very normal but 4 days ago I started bleeding ( my period is due in a weeks time) but my blood keeps changing colour from red to brown then pink then back to red again, then today ive been clotting is this all normal?Thank you,Kelly
Hello dear I understand your concern It is just side effect of the mirena coil. Blood clots and different color blood is suggest fresh blood and old blood that remain in the uterus. It will disappear in the 4-5 week. Progesterone pill will help to reduce the bleeding. If it will continue then consult the gynecologist and coil should be removed as you are not suitable for the mirena coil contraception and select the other contraception like condoms and oral contraceptive pill. Maintain proper pelvic hygiene. Hope this may help you
