Hi, Birth control implant is a small plastic rod that is placed under the skin is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses for long periods. But like other medications this device has some side effects of its own. The most common side effect of birth control implant is spotting or breakthrough bleeding between periods or vaginal bleeding or irregular uterine bleeding. It is possible to have light bleeding during or after sex due to vaginal dryness while you are on birth control implant, as implant may cause vaginal dryness. Other possible side effects are nausea, period like abdominal cramps, breast pain etc. Most of the birth control implant induced side effects are mild as well as self limiting and usually go away over time without any medical treatment.
