What Causes Metallic Sensations In The Head?

Hello, ever since I was a child I always experienced these metallic sensations on the inside of my head. The earliest I remember experiencing this strange sensation was when I was the age 6 and slammed my head very hard on concrete. I am now 17 years old and ever since then I experience the exact same sensation at completely random moments/intervals or whenever I get hit very little or very hard on my head. Please help me I would like to know if I have some sort of head injury I am unaware of or if I shouldn t be concerned.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Olfactory hallucinations can be caused by metabolic (chemical) as well as physical causes such as masses, infectious ashes, etc. You should be seen by a neurologist who will likely order an MRI of the brain and check the olfactory nerve and its sheath to make sure nothing has penetrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
