What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth After Taking Medication?
Hi..3 days ago I was suffering from loose motions and stomach pain which I thought would go away by itself..but then after a day it still troubled me, so I went to a physician who prescribed Sporolac tablets thrice a day for 2 days and Norflox TZ twice a day for 2 days. I stopped using now and my stomach pain is gone but my mouth tastes very bitter...i'm not able to drink water because of a kind of metallic taste....while eating i dont feel the bitterness but it persists throughout the day...help me
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain metallic taste in mouth is due to side effect of the medicine Norflox TZ and is commonly seen in patients taking this medication..
You need not to worry as now when you have stopped taking this medication gradually the metallic taste will start reducing and gradually will disappear..
You should take a proper diet and drink plenty of water although it may taste bad but it is necessary for maintaining hydration and faster clearing of the effect of medication.
You can also gargle with a peppermint containing mouthwash and take a flavoured sugar free chewing for masking the effect of the metallic taste..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
