What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth Along With Mild Discomfort In Chest?
I am experiencing a metallic taste in my mouth, a weakness in my legs, pain o & o in the area of my right ear, and some mild chest discomfort which seems to come and go. I am 77. Although I do have some past history of muscular and joint problems, my heart has always been evaluated as very strong. BP is 125/68; P 61 at this time. DM II treated with metformin 2x daily; under very good control. 30 minutes pp this a.m. was 122. I have fibromyalgia. In 2013 I had three T&A s which were caused by encephylitis and remain on a maintenance anti-viral. Hope you can relieve my concerns.
Understanding your concern .There are many reasons for metallic taste in mouth like poor oral hygiene , infection in oral cavity , side effect of any drug , hormonal changes and excess vitamins and minerals . I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist to find out the exact cause . For now suck on sugar free mint candy , do warm saline rinses and maintain proper oral hygiene . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux ,who may prescribe H2 blockers or proton pump inhibitor . Avoid eating heavy and spicy food specially at night because one can also experience metallic taste due to acidic reflux.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
