What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth With History Of Shingles Infection?

Hi, I had shingles in my head a few months ago which reappeared the other side but not nearly as badly. I still experience tenderness, itching and occasional earache but it s nothing compared to the previous pain. However, I have really bad metallic tongue and sometimes lips with very confused taste buds. Spices and salt aggravate this in particular. Could it be the post viral effects of shingles or something else completely.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern.

Shingles infection which you had earlier was probably severe in form just like chicken pox due to which virus at times remains inactive in nerves and can cause its recurrence whenever your immunity gets lower down. That is the reason you got second attack of shingles.

Post viral effect of shingles could cause metallic taste in mouth along with excessive thrust. It mainly occurs in females which above 60 year age group. You need not to worry about it.

Consult physician nearby you if these symptoms persists even after 2-3 weeks. Keep your immune system boosted.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
