What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth While Coughing?
Hi, for several months I have a metallic taste when I cough, I also cough up small amounts of pale green phlegm, often have a wheeze sound when in bed not had a cold for over a year but have had trouble with damp in my bedroom and room under my bedroom which I am trying to sort out, getting worried, not like me.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. You might have chronic bronchitis or allergic presentation like asthma leading bronchoconstriction and hence wheezing and cough.
Your work up done as follows:
- Auscultation - Chest x ray - CBC - AEC - Spirometry
If needed decide further management plan. According to cause, specific treatment will be given. For bronchitis like COPD diagnosis (from spirometry and examination) than ipratropium bromide like inhaler prescribed. Sputum examination done preferably as sputum is green colour and suitable antibiotic prescribed for bronchitis.
Hot water used for drinking. If you are diagosed with allergy disorder like asthma than formeterol inhaler prescribed for that.
Consult physician or pulmonologoist for examination and get your prescription accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
